BEHIND THIS WRITER’S TROUBLING PAST AND UNWANTED FAME..
by contributing editor, Nicholas T. Farraway
Tales myriad and plenty abound in trying to get to know Amory Patrick Blaine and the essence of what is true or not when it comes to the facts about the author’s life and the protagonist’s scandalous story being released in the forthcoming “de-classified” papers [in novel of format] of American Renaissance;Or Inquiry Concerning Political Justice in the Arts & Its Influence on Morals and Happiness. So far among the stats of his mysterious identity are: That he was born in the USA, and although being of Scotch-German, Black-Irish, and half-Spanish descent, he was baptized in Jerusalem and given a strict South American Catholic education while his father was drafted into the Army. At 5 years old, he was once run over by a speeding car and miraculously survived. That his ancestors go back to the American fight for freedom and independence in the Revolutionary War, but his mother was an immigrant by marriage, and in high school he was bullied for wearing an earring and had to successfully fight off a whole town of incestual families to rescue the girl of his dreams. That later he was nearly expelled for fleeing and eluding the police, having sex in the bathrooms with several teenage girls, and arrested for pulling the fire alarm in order to calm the situation down. At long last, although he speaks 5 languages, three of them fluently – and never had academic trouble in school – he and his college roommates were expelled from Boston University for breaking and entering at midnight and stealing the class final exam. To distance himself from such unglorified teen-age shenanigans, rather than answer to his author name, (which he claims is too long to be of any use), he prefers to go by his stage name “Dorian Books,” or just “Patrick” for short, and prefers not to have to answer anything regarding the clandestine Defense Intelligence Agency program he was blackmailed into participating while serving in the Marines. He will speak of none of his combat missions, how many people he saw killed in action any more than he is willing to give his opinion or illicit knowledge on the facts behind the deaths of any number of artists mysteriously killed over the last fifty years – e.g. Jimmy Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Elvis Presley, Kurt Cobain, Tupac, Biggie – or how their untimely deaths relate to the still unresolved assassinations of JFK, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy or the facts of his controversial post-military story for the record. But at its core, as a tell-all book as if coming from an inside source at the Deep State, American Renaissance – although it is set in Paris – is about the essence of what it means to be an American; What it means to be an artist, and creative person trying to make a living in this country. As well as what it means to be religious, what it means to believe in God, or how to consider yourself as an Atheist existing as one ephemeral, dying entity living within the contours of your human body in contrast to the long tradition of evidence that we have inherited through our civilization defining masterworks of painting that grace the visual history of Western culture as proof and measure of the evolutionary progress and immortality of the human spirit. So, what is the ultimate meaning of all these things and the mind-bending controversial scandal – some would call it more than just the crime of the century – that is revealed at the heart of the story; American Renaissance?
“It’s so outrageous, someone might even believe the worst of it to be true. It would be the mother of all conspiracies, and I’m not sure our country or civilization could really even survive it? At least art, and the way we think about it in America, it would never be the same,” Amory Patrick Blaine says during the first and only interview he was willing to give over the phone. But barring the shocking premise [that the Second Coming of Jesus Christ – yes that One - including his brief rebirth, life & death by assassination, has already happened around the turn of the millennium] and the great mystery that awaits those who are able to find themselves a copy of his book [broken up into 3 volumes] before it possibly gets banned, the author reiterates that fame is not something he wants or expects. After all, he is the first to admit all is a hoax. Yet at the same time - for all the notoriety that’s potentially about to come his way – regarding everything that is tangentially related in these memoirs from the death of Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, or the killing of David Koresh in Waco, Texas, in the decade after – there is still some traces of true crime to this story that belies ordinary explanation or indeed possibly wreaks with signs of the most astounding cover-up. Since, in telling the tale which he has to tell and narrating the inside plot and covert search & destroy clandestine mission which he and a handful of his peers were unwittingly tasked, it was all supposed to be off the record. A story told for simple commercial ends, just like any other number of high-stakes, Hollywood movie plots bought and sold for the purposes of ribald entertainment. Except for the fact that nobody ever expected to see the FBI seize the controversial folder containing the un-edited notes of the author’s military journals during the Feds’ surprise raid on the former president’s compound in Mar-a-Lago happen, or for any of these experiences to be leaked to the press.
Although since turning eighteen, in fact, a handful of Amory Patrick Blaine’s high school classmates went on to become famous, some rumors say over the last decade, he’s spent at least a few nights in prison in different continents. Albeit he now lives couch surfing between New York City and the West Coast, sleeping in random households and with different mistresses along the way. Some background sources say he’s independently wealthy while others affirm that he hasn’t a penny to his name. That he talks to nobody and can only countenance having written communication among peers he considers to be of the spiritually elite. That he comes from a family of artists and is the least talented among them. That he absolutely hates art but grew up in a mansion filled with 40-million-dollar paintings, and is a brilliant gourmet cook who once made a living off selling firearms training & Bible study in Los Angeles Pilates studios before one day having to vanish and escape after being recognized as a wanted fugitive on TV. That he dreamt of being a comedian but is mainly remembered for being a functional winoholic, a former division I college athlete, a wrestler, boxer, and national record-holding swimmer recovering from PTSD who went AWOL from the Marines in order to join the French Foreign Legion. Although some pages of American Renaissancebriefly allude to his time in the infantry, when pressed again, he refuses ad nauseum to ever speak of any of his time spent in combat, his brief experience in the military, or the real names of his spy handlers in Paris. But some people who knew him in Charlie Company back then believe that his famous artist protagonist, Sean Dorian Knight, is really alive and well and prospering as a well-known sculptor working in the Hamptons. That there is proof he has trained and made many artworks for the Church as well as sculptures for the base camp of Seal Team Six at the same time there is evidence he was a talented genius painter but whom nobody can prove ever really existed. That other than to one of his little cousins who died, nobody knows to whom the authorship of those masterpiece paintings belong to, unless one were to speculate they could be from a crazy sister or were produced by none other than the author himself. Except for the problem that nothing is known further or can be proven other than that the narrator suffered irreversible memory loss during the Gulf War, and everything has been covered up.
Or what other explanation is there for the story told in American Renaissance or the confiscation of several of the protagonist’s artworks that were mysteriously bought by the Treasury department of the U.S. government or the fact that the author has visible scars from facial reconstruction surgery and the erasure of his former top-secret identity? That he is a natural born poet who infiltrated a notorious art revolutionary movement in Europe during the 1990’s almost by accident. That after his time in OCS training at Quantico, he was selected and recruited for a little-known international counterintelligence force of such a high stakes and clandestine mission all on account of the legacy of his family history in the Navy. All seems to bear out as verifiable fact and hold true upon finding out his grandfather was in the OSS in World War II. Although, in actuality, the more one thinks about it, it’s incredible to even think how the rest of this backstory is all cogently woven and passionately explained in the pages of American Renaissance in a way that appears to make incontrovertible sense. But when I still remain in doubt or can’t help but to question how much of the author’s patriotic family background is even valid, I find he has the family heirloom of World War II medals and a commemorative Samurai sword from the King of Siam [now modern-day Thailand] to prove it. Albeit, legally, he is still unrecognized on his father’s side and considered the illegitimate son of a former decorated Vietnam veteran and U.S. Navy Admiral who refused to acknowledge his existence; A father who ignored the calls from his troubled teenage son to buy a surfboard or ride a motorcycle or to help support his once budding rock-n-roll career. But more famously is known at the Pentagon for being twice named a United States Ambassador and once being the political advisor to the Army Chief of Staff and for denying his own son’s paternity along with any evidence of his planning and any involvement in his son’s later participation in the deadly covert Paris mission revealed in these de-classified memoirs of American Renaissancethat ended up torpedoing his father’s aborted run for the U.S Senate. The only rumor that otherwise remains apocryphal or of dubious origin is why or how in the hell is it that - after failing at several marriages and getting a fancy MFA degree - shunned from his family, the author of American Renaissance made his way to Barcelona and Madrid to become a bullfighter in Spain. That is, before coming back to Gotham City to lead a nationally recognized company to an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange and cashing out. That, although educated in Boston, New York, and at the Sorbonne, he was banned from seeking work on any college campus for once stealing a copy of his own published graduate thesis, lighting it on fire, and admitting to almost killing a man in a botched Manhattan real estate deal. Rumor also has it that he’s an actor & filmmaker but who was kicked out of a poetry reading being held at NYU by one of his professors in honor of fake art world celebrities after coming in and trashing the place while making loud animal noises with a bunch of drunken rednecks from Maryland.
But in the end, who cares? Or should care that Amory Patrick Blaine has stacks & stacks of unpublished chapters of “de-classified” notes made into journals and prison diaries with something deep and disturbing to say about concealed US government documents exposing an almost complicitly religious Christian nationalist foreign policy based on the arrival and expectation of Jesus Christ’s Second Coming, a record of rampant pedophilia in Hollywood and Washington, or the Clinton administration’s covert dealings in the art world from his days in combat and connections made during world travel. As well as the scintillating details of a parallel secret European operation that went down precisely on the same date and hour as the devastating fire and paramilitary siege in Waco, Texas in 1993, that killed David Koresh and over 70 women and children? Why should conscientious readers, the general public, or anyone, in particular, care? Even though, besides the stunning debut penmanship of American Renaissance, under the pseudonym “Amadeo Effscott,” the author has written well over one million words that were redacted and sealed from public disclosure before this impressive soon-to-be unveiled espionage mystery and suspense trilogy subtitled Inquiry Concerning Political Justice in the Arts & Its Influence on Morals and Happinesswas ever pulled out of the slush pile by Mr. J.M. Smythe and made it into an outside New York editor’s hands. A nearly tell-all-book in novel format detailing anecdotes about nearly being shot by his father’s own bodyguards, his covert dealings as a contractor working for his handler who was being managed by the CIA, or the very historic and factual role our Central Intelligence Agency played in the founding of the contemporary art world – and which now, finally after 29 years – is being allowed to be released into print.
How much is factual or only fictionally or “metaphorically” true about the mysterious painter and prophet, Sean Dorian Knight – the already past-tense Second Coming of Christ - and the whole story of the revolutionary art movement found in American Renaissance is probably all we should be concerned with of this book before – in all likelihood – it is destined to be banned as an “alternative history” book. But it is a fair question for all its believers to ask. As fair as any conservative Christian who believes in the Second Coming of Jesus to want to know when is Christ actually supposed to come back if he hasn’t already? [According to a recent PEW research poll, this would include nearly 70% of United States citizens, implying that all that needs to happen now is for the world to read about it, just in case those busy with their own lives as sinners happened to have missed it. As was the case when the same thing happened the first time around, and nobody really found out until the first gospels were written about 150 years after Christ’s death. And nobody really knew the Good News of the faith until the word was spread.] When it comes to the true story behind Sean Dorian Knight and the story of American Renaissance, however, it is a question that may even be all the more difficult to answer because, in the end, we know almost absolutely nothing about the true identity of this former soldier, warrior-poet, and debut author who might just be on the verge of becoming, overnight, the leading literary voice of his generation with his revelations about the true reasons for the current war in the Middle East. It could be fair to say we even know more about the true life of Saint Paul the evangelist and founder of the Christian church than we do about the writer and building suspense behind this devastating societal indictment and cultural critique of our prevailing “false” economic system as found in this reluctant confessional and thriller literary bombshell of a narrative. A sudden turn of events set in motion by his real-life connection to an Arabian Sheik and the recent FBI raid on the former presidential compound in Mar-a-lago, revealing a folder of his confiscated government papers hidden under the label “the President of France.” Confidential papers of corroborated authenticity which were first seized by the US intelligence authorities in 1997 before the fall of the Twin Towers and whose story has never been given clearance to be published or seen ever since. That is, until present political circumstances at this moment perhaps dictate a government reckoning in the story of American Renaissanceunlike anything history has ever known. No worries, we get you, Amory Patrick Blaine. That there are plenty of government authorities and undisclosed agencies who have done all they can to prevent this story from coming out. But stay safe, we pray for America as well as the American Renaissance, and anyone who should make the mistake of becoming your enemy and we hope it all gets sorted out by the End of Days. Amen.

What people are saying
"The newly redacted diaries of this errant warrior now at last provide the most compelling historical evidence yet of a much lesser known covert Holy war that has persistently been going on for years, if not decades, beyond the scope of public scrutiny.
- Lt. Colonel Lloyd Cutler Allenby,
Retired Director of AI Cyber Programs, Greenbelt, MD
"As many critics have pointed out, terrorism is not an enemy. It is a tactic. Because the United States itself has a long record of supporting terrorists and using terrorist tactics. [In not providing for the cloak of Title 50 under the US Code (and thus) keeping U.S. Forces in peril, Congress would surely be committing the high crime of squandering the lives of soldiers and marines involved in these covert operations]..."
